Don't underestimate the Clarion A review of Clarion Hotel Prague Old Town
I have just returned from a 3 day / 2 night break in Prague, staying at the Clarion Hotel. I was let down by another on-line booking agent, and was struggling to find accomodation in the centre of Prague.
I was offerred this hotel, and quite frankly I took it because they could supply me with 8 twin rooms for my group of 16, and at short notice
The photographs on their website didn't look that great, but as I said I was desperate and booked it. We arrived at the hotel, and was immediately impressed by the friendly staff.
The hotel was fully renovated in 2004, and one thing that really stood out to me was how spotlessly clean it was. The hotel is NOT decorated in lavish rich colours with gold and marble everywhere, but rather in a more simple way with no fuss. But never the less impressive.
Our room was of average size, with comfortable beds, TV, free safe, trouser press, mini bar etc. etc........The bathroom was well equiped with a great power shower. Once again the thing that impressed most was how clean and fresh it all was.
The hotel has a nice lobby bar, and a restaurant which we only used for breakfast. The food was very nice and service friendly. The location is great for walking to the nearby attractions, weather permitting, with the Old Town Square being about 15 mins - max.
The town is beautiful, and if I can recommend a place to visit, it's the rooftop restaurant at the U PRINCE HOTEL situated on The Old Town Sqaure. It has spectacular views, with food and drink being reasonably priced and of a high standard. It's a great place to relax in the sun with a beer in your hand.
The only thing we had a problem with were the gypsy women and girls coming on to us offering 'certain services'. This only happened after about 2.00am - they are really pickpockets so keep your hand on your wallet and tell them to go away.
I certainly got the impression that Prague is not really for children, there seemed very little for kids to do or to entertain them with, as the city is more geared up for adults.
I had a wonderful time in Prague, and staying at the Clarion made it all the better. I would recommend it.
