Don't Stay Here A review of Eastland Park Hotel

This is truly one of the worst hotels I have EVER stayed at. The lobby is very nice. It ends there. I wrote a letter a month in advance requesting a room with a view (during their off season). When I did not hear from them, I emailed the hotel several times, I phoned several times. No response to any of my attempts to contact them.I arrived and promptly paid to park my car at a hotel. The $10.00 they charge to park your car is for overnight only. If you want to come back to your room during the day to change clothes for dinner you pay more. Two bellmen stood & watched me lug my suitcases up two flights of stairs. No offer of help anywhere in site. I observed these two bellmen watching other women heave their own heavy bags up the stairs. I asked at the front desk for a large room with a water view. I ended up with a view of the parking lot. I didnt bother to complain. Why? Because a view would not have made any difference. The windows are tiny, they are covered in bars & they are beyond filthy. I cant imagine how they could ever clean these windows with the bars on them. The rooms are dark and dank. The hotel has a smell to it. There are no granite bathrooms as advertised. I had to store my items on the top of the toilet because there is only a two-inch ledge around the sink. Two people in this room would have been a nightmare! An elevator operator operates the elevator. I am not trying to be flippant but it reminded of what it would be like to stay in a homeless shelter. My room had a large wall picture missing, dark depressing carpet and I just felt dirty all the time. The restaurant has good food (the sole was good) the steak tartar was horrible beyond belief. Big chunks of raw steak, no seasoning that I could taste. Anyway the atmosphere of the restaurant was pretty awful. My table had a dirty tablecloth. The waiter was humorless and very unknowledgeable about the food. The continental breakfast was disgraceful. No bowls for cereal were put out. Stale pastries.I askonditionershe did bring it to metwo days later. They bill this hotel as a grand dame that has been refurbished. I would love to know where exactly they put their money. Seedy
