Don't do it!!! A review of Botel Albatros

We booked to stay here for three nights in august of this year. When we got there, the lobby area was fine and the staff friendly. However, when we entered the room, it was shocking. The carpet was ripped up, the furniture tatty, the bathroom was grimy and dirty, and although we had a window onto the river, you could hardly see it because of all the muck on the window. We asked for another room, and were told that there were none available, and they were all the same anyway. We then went into the bar area for a drink to decide what to do. The bar looks really nice, but when you're sat down with a beer, and the wall is covered with huge cobwebs with dead flies hanging off it, it loses its appeal rapidly. We're not snobs by any means, but there was no way we were staying there. It was 3 star accomodation; I wouldn't give it anymore than one. When checked out straight away, and booked into another three star that was a lot cheaper and a lot better (which wasn't difficult). The hotel is on a boat; I expect the rooms to be small, but I also expect them to be clean and hospitable. Fortunately, we managed to get a full refund from the holiday company. I've stayed in Prague many times, always in three or four star hotels, and the Botel Albatros is by a long way the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. We lasted a total of 45 minutes. Never again.......
