Don't bother! A review of Hampton Inn Boston / Cambridge
Did the reviewers with positive responses actually stay in this hotel (more of a "motel")?! I have had wonderful experiences at Hampton Inns in Washington state and Arizona, but I will never return to the one in Cambridge!! It is mediocre, at best. The parking "garage" is impossible to negotiate, and good luck if it's full and someone pulls up behind you! There is only one entrance/exit and it took me over 10 minutes to get out, after discovering that the lot was full. I was directed to a separate parking area in the back of the hotel--not the safest-looking place, but I had no choice. The hotel room was sub-par for the price, it had a strange odor, and the ice machine across the hall made so much noise I did not sleep well. An added bonus was that the free internet didn't work! I was planning to stay for three nights, but left after one. I went back to my favorite, more expensive boutique hotel and paid only $20 more per night (with my AAA discount) for absolute luxury. (I can't reveal its name or I may not be able to get a room there next time!)
If only I had known about that AAA discount before traveling, I never would have considered staying at the Hampton Inn!
