Dissapointing A review of Boca Raton Plaza Hotel and Suites

For us, past reviews proved to be misleading: during our short stay, the staff were inept and unprofessional, from the receptionists who never lifted their heads to greet the guests, to the general manager (Gary Overfield) blocking guests' way into the hotel with his arm akimbo, threatening to throw them out. * The only fruit the hotel had were oranges (that is what the room service people claimed), and they could not make an esspresso because they "were waiting for someone to come and fix the machine". They would give you big sighs when asked to bring you something, probably to let you know what an inconvenience it was for them. * Some staff asked inappropriate questions, such as "What sort of operation have you just had?" (and were offended when the reply was "It's none of your business"). * One of the receptionists (Karen) was unable to make sure a taxi was in front of the hotel at the desired time - it came to early, and beacuse we couldn't make it quickly enough, the taxi left. She was then unable to organise another one, because the taxi company was unwilling to send the second cab. It never occurred to her that she could have called another taxi company. (Maybe the hotel has some sort of agreement with the Yellow Cab to use only them?) * Despite the "do not disturb" sign displayed on our door, the maid would call us on the phone, because we had to "sign her port". * Probably worth mentioning is also the fact that the hotel's website is unfinished, and misleading in that it devotes considerable space to the Mizner Shopping Center, which makes you believe that the hotel is a part of, or at least close to Mizner, when in fact the Center is more than 10 blocks away.
