Dissapointing - beware 'fake' reviews A review of Hotel Silvio
My brother and I stayed with our partners in August 2004. Hotel was good value but not outstanding and is just about worthy of appearing in Michelin. The reason for reporting is to make you aware of our suspicions some reviews are not genuine.
Location is awkward with natsy walk along narrow busy high walled road into Bellagio - to walk via lakeshore through Villa grounds costs €5 and closes 6pm. On the other hand it does have the benefit of being away from the parking problems/costs of the village centre.
We stayed half board and the evening meal was very basic being served in a back room with no explantion of the menu and minimal options. I suggest you stay room only & then you can dine in restuarant (or elsewhere).
English is poor and the staff seem unprepared to give you any time or attention, certinaly not drive you into town as some reviews state because they only appear to have a 2 seat Smartcar.
That is why we are very suspicious of the authenticity of the other reviewers of this hotel as we cannot understand how they came to their opinions about friendlyness and knowledge of the menu.
Beware the Como - Bellagio road is very difficult driving (and it takes a lot for me to say that!!). You may prefer to use the inexpensive car ferries to reach Bellagio.
