Disappointing A review of The Houstonian

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a weekend recently. We booked the room over a month in advance, and requested a king. When we checked in, we were given 2 double beds, right by the pool area. We called the front desk to ask about our king reservation only to be told the 2 doubles were all they had left-no other explanation was given. Just as I feared, while trying to take a nap one afternoon, neither my husband nor myself could rest due to a swim lesson being given at the pool. That same night, we were woken up by people out at the pool well after midnight. At these prices, I would expect better service. Also, the hall leading from the elevator to our room smelled like vomit. Our room was clean, and the doormen always opened doors for us and called us cabs, but those are the only positive things I can say about the Houstonian. It doesn't live up to the hype. For a comparable experience, I would stay at a Hampton Inn for half the price!
