Disappointed A review of DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Newark Airport
We were on the club level, top floor #12.
None of the guests on that level could get the keys to work in their rooms. The maintenance man had to use the master key to open everyone's room. This was still not fixed the second night.
The sink leaked from the faucet, which created a mess all over the countertop and the floor. In the morning, there was no hot water in the shower.
There was a letter in our room apologizing for the uncertain business environment and stated that room service had to be suspended during off hours. At the bottom of that letter, it revelead that this hotel was operated by a separate corporation and licensed by the Sheraton. So I don't know if the separate corporation was having financial difficulties, and they could fix things. I guess I can't hold it against the Sheraton corp.
The bed was good. Fluffy with good pillows, and we had a good night's sleep.
The view overlooked the airport, and an industrial section of newark. Safety was good. Staff at front desk appeared to be stressed, probably from frequent complaints of guests.
Hopefully you will have a better time. If not, you can buy beer from the hotel bar for $5 bottle (Heinekin) and bring it up to your room. That's what we did.
