Disappointed A review of Glacier Park Lodge
Positive highlights include the site (magificent views), the architecture and the lobby (great, soaring trees as columns).
The positives end there. Terrible check in with poorly trained staff who must refer all issues to the manager. They gave away our reserved adjoining rooms to the tour groups who arrive en masse via buses.
Rooms were large and clean in the annex but spartan and not charming. Bathrooms were a joke with plastic-unit showers that just dripped water.
Restaurant was lousy. Pleasant staff but inefficiently run with poor ingredients and amateurish cooking. Try the diner in town -- walk under arch near the railway stop-- charming, authentic, homemade and fun.
Casino under the lobby was depressing and dark with its slot machine hussle for your dollars.
Pool is old fashioned and uninviting behind its chain link fence.
Overall, Glacier National Park is fabulous. This hotel, however, is poorly run. I would never go back.
