Diamond in the Rough A review of Banting House Inn
I've spent the last MONTH researching somthing and I'm pretty sure I've discovered a real gem.I was looking for a 'home away from home' for my family, who are being so good about doing the whole wedding in Toronto. I didn't want an impersonal hotel, but I quickly found out that Bed and Breakfasts can be extremely rigid, snobby and unwelcoming. I'm not kidding when I tell you I've thoroughly searched every Toronto Bed and Breakfast on the net. 40+ pages of google results with a fine tooth comb - insane!!WELL - what a relief to find The Banting House! It's got about 6 or 7 rooms - enough room for a big family, and its LOVELY. The guy there, Paul, was SO SO nice about accomodating my family. The Banting house regularly allows it's guests full access to the kitchen, BBQ and internet (in a special office set up JUST for guests). They encourage people to make dinner in the house, use the dining room ... really get comfortable. I got excellent service over the phone today - even though my booking is for a high season time! This is THE service for non-Toronto native brides trying to make mom, dad, sis, brother, grama, grampa, etc. feel comfortable and happy in the big city. The house is a lovely old Edwardian in Cabbagetown.I can't believe my luck!!I hope some other bride (or travelling family) will benefit from this reccomendation.
