Delightful and soothing, beautiful architecture and appointments A review of St Julien Hotel and Spa
Wow. This is a wonderful hotel in a perfect location (at the west end of the Pearl Street Mall, but on Walnut St., one street over). The hotel is only five months old. Everyone, from the front desk staff to the bellboys, said hello, answered questions and was friendly, without being annoying. Maid service 2x/day. The only drawback is that there isn't much hanging closet space. Modern furnishings, even in the hallway, and a nice lounge area near the elevator (check out the marble staircase) on each floor. Five stories total, with a beautiful outdoor area where you can have coffee, a party (there was a wedding when we were there) or just sit and admire the mountains and architecture. Lovely restaurant, Jills, with very reasonable prices. Very difficult to find street parking. They charge $15/day to park in the neighboring lot; normal price is $30. Weekends are free in this lot, so the valet said to give another last name (make one up) for your car, and the staff won't be able to find your room/name and you won't be charged for parking on those days. Check out the spa; it's beautiful and comfortable with therapists who know what they're doing (this is Boulder, after all). You get grapes on a plate when you're done w/your service, a nice touch. We paid $139 + tax (hotel matched expedia rate), totally worth it. This is the nicest hotel in Boulder, in our opinion. Highly recommended. We saw couples, families and single travelers. Pretty area when you walk in, with live music at night and free newspapers (WSJ, NY Times, Daily Camera).
