Definitely the place to stay in Rio A review of Windsor Martinique Hotel
I definitely agree with the other postings that the Martinique is a great place to stay while in Rio. It is safe, very clean and modern, and just steps away from Copacobana beach. The location is really excellent. I actually prefered this location to being right on the beach. Due to the traffic on Avenue Atlantica, I'm sure the hotels right on the beach would be noisy.
The staff was very nice and professional, and most importanly welcoming. The breakfast buffet was substantial, nothing fancy, except for all the wonderful, exotic and very tasty fresh fruit juices. We stayed 6 nights and the food was the same each day, so it go a little boring, but the food was high quality and fresh.
The hotel was quiet for the most part, not rowdy like some of the larger places in Rio. Try to get a room away from the elevators as you can hear them beeping - it's not terribly load, but you can hear it anyway.
The rooms were very clean and modern with hardwood floors and granite bathrooms. They were small, but comfortable.
We checked out the Windsor Palace Hotel just across the street and weren't too impressed. It always seemed so crowded and noisy. The guests didn't seem as polite as those staying at the Martinique. The Martinique is kind of like a small, boutique hotel. Also, beware, the pools in Rio are tiny, tiny. There just isn't the room to build big ones like the hotels in the US. It doesn't matter if you're at a small or fancy hotel, the pools all will be small.
Overall, we were very pleased with our stay and would recommend this hotel without reservation.
