Definately average... not bad particularly, but not that romantic or special A review of Golden Tulip De'Medici Hotel
I think it was the surprise this is a chain hotel (Pacific International) and we had thought we were booking into a nice boutique one. It has the feel of a club-med cum old holiday-inn type mix, yet has a quite expensive Japanese Tepanyaki restaurant in the foyer.
The staff were friendly but not overly helpful. It is on the canal, but the views from the rooms dont really benefit. The hotel isnt that far away from town but there did seem to be many, many others closer and nicer. That wasnt an issue until you get to dinner-time, dead tired from touring Brugge, and just wanted a nice little cafe or restaurant to relax into, without facing the walk home.
The pool and health facilities were out of order and no one had informed us beforehand, probably would have been mifft if we had really planned on using them.
However the one great thing about it, was the bread at breakfast! Yummy freshly baked and warm - the meal was a great way to start our day... just maybe not enough to make us go back though...
