Decent Value A review of Eastland Park Hotel

This hotel doesn't merit some of the negative comments I've read. The hotel is an old one (1929?) but has been nicely refurbished. The lobby area is grand and the rooms are clean and large (we had a two room suite). Someone mentioned "bars on the windows". These are the extra storm windows, once used to keep out the cold. Costs of remodeling old hotels are high and these windows were just left on. The hotel is conveniently located a short walk away from the old sections of the city. The price is very reasonable. We didn't eat there for we almost never eat in hotels but seek out smaller and more interesting restaurants. One poster objected to paying $10 in the garage next door. The overnight price in the garage is $15 and the hotels gets you $5 off. I've almost never found a mid-city hotel that offers free overnight parking - especially when the room price is just $79.
