Decent Stay With Some Problems A review of Chase Park Plaza
Overall, we had a good experience in the Chase Park Plaza Hotel. We stayed in the 2 room suite at a rate of $289.00 per night. The suite had a main room with a kitchen, dining, and sitting areas with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. There was a television in the main room, and also in both bedrooms - making a total of 3 television sets in the suite. The bathrooms were very small (only one person can fit in the bathroom at any one time) and the toilet was very near the wall giving a cramped feel while using the toilet. The rooms were well kept - with the only exception of the dining table which was not cleaned until the third day of our stay. The beds were comfortable with nice pillows.
Our main problems, besides the cramped bathrooms, were as follows: one of the bathroom sinks gave off an unpleasant odor; the windows of the suite were not well insulated and so the blinds and drapes were suspended in midair when it became windy because outside air was blowing into the room; one of the heating systems in the bedroom was very noisy and difficult to sleep with; the room service breakfast was quite bad - much grease and the food tasted like it had been cooked quite a bit earlier that morning, the room service dinner was below average but certainly edible; the Marquee Cafe had bad service and bad food.
On the plus side, the Tenderloin Restaurant in the hotel had excellent food with good service. The hotel is very grand but you get the impression that the $130,000,000 put into renovations several years back was not enough for a hotel of that size and age. This is a hotel that has the potential of being a great hotel, but I think it's one that will remain "not quite there."
