Decent place to stay A review of Grand Vista Hotel
We stayed at the Grand Vista while visiting family in Moorpark. The lobby of the hotel is lovely and the staff was very helpful and pleasant. The room was ordinary...the toilet didn't flush very well, the bathroom did not have a vent (so that by the time you finished a shower, the room was totally foggy and hot). There were two refrigerators and a microwave, which was useful. The rooms were clean and housekeeping provided whatever we needed quite quickly.
We were surprised to receive coupons for a free breakfast buffet (each day of our stay except Sunday) and a free drink in either of the bars for each day. One bar was quiet and lovely...just the place to sit and talk...but it closed if there were not enough patrons. The other bar (Arena) seems like a local hang-out for the Simi Valley crowd. The night we were there it was very crowded, dirty, and overly loud. There were lots of games (billiards, darts, a trivia game on video, video games at the bar) but there were only two bartenders...took about 30 minutes to get a drink.
The swimming pool area was very nice, although we did not get a chance to use it.
The free breakfast buffet was really quite nice offering cereal, scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, warm muffins, juices and coffee with prompt attention from the serving staff.
The hotel is conveniently located right off I-118 and directly across the street from Simi Valley Town Centre...a very nice outdoor mall.
