Crater Lake Lodge is Heaven on Earth A review of Crater Lake Lodge
We spent one night at Crater Lake Lodge on 8-8-04, (2 adults and a 15 and 11 year old). It is a beautiful national park lodge that sits right on the edge of the caldera overlooking the stunning Crater Lake. The lake is so blue it puts the sky to shame. We loved the lodge with its big roaring fire and mission style furniture. We ate a lovely dinner in the restaurant - the tuxedo cheesecake is to die for! Be sure to make reservations before you arrive. After dinner we sat in the lobby and played National Parks Monopoly. The waitstaff serves drinks in the lobby and you can eat there too. The whole ambience of the lodge is so special. After dark we went out on the back porch and we have never in our lives seen so many stars against such a black background. It took our breath away! Our room had two queen beds and a rollaway fit too. The room was very clean and comfortable and looked like new. The sink is outside the bathroom and a little cramped, but we loved the experience so much we did not care. If you want to take a boat ride on Crater Lake be sure to get up early to buy your tickets and beware the walk back up from the boats is tough --take water and take your time. Our kids swam in the lake, which is freezing, but was actually one of their favorite experiences of the whole two week Pacific Northwest vacation. I cannot recommend the Crater Lake Lodge enough. It was wonderful!
