Could have been better A review of Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel
My husband and I stayed at the Yankee Clipper a couple of weeks ago. We were not very happy with the service and most of the staff we encountered. First of all we were unable to check in until 5:00 p.m. instead of 3:00. Their explanation was there had been a lot of late check outs that day which was a Sunday. We sat out on the beach waiting for a room. When we did get a room, it had two double beds instead of a king which we had reserved. I called the front desk and was informed by a rude staff member that basically it was too bad and that was all they had available. I knew this was not true since most people had checked out earlier that day, and due to the time of the evening. I had to go down to the front desk and after causing a scene, we got the room we had requested. Under the circumstances, I felt they should be more accomodating. We expected some compensation for not being able to check in on time, but received none. Adding insult to injury the mixup in the room and rude staff. We were very nice and understanding until the final straw. The room was average, but clean with a street view. The pool was small, but the location of the hotel is great. This is one of the few hotels directly on the beach instead of across the street. It is also close to the airport which is another plus. Next time we want stay at this hotel, I would rather walk across the street to the beach.
