Convenience, comfort, and character A review of Ledgelawn Inn
I stayed in the ledgelawn over the 4th of July long weekend and had a wonderful stay. The building is clearly the most impressive looking B&B downtown and I was surprised to find that the rates were in line with the other less impressive or historic places nearby. You really get a sense staying there of connecting to old Bar Harbor when people actually lived in these magnificent mansions.
The lobby and eating area are great with a grand fireplace, a surprisingly well stocked wine bar, and a nice porch to eat on. It's an interesting, historic building with a lot of character, so some parts are a bit rundown, but on the whole it was well maintained and our room was very clean. The beds were very comfortable, well above the average hotel or inn, and the room was spacious and sunny. The pool leaves something to be desired, but the new owners (who were extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area) directed us to some great lake swimming.
Another plus is its great downtown location. For convenience, comfort, and character I will definitely be back.
