Consider Other Options A review of Ramada Resort Port Douglas

The Radison Treetops is an "ok" resourt, but not the quality one should expect from a Radison or the price that you are paying to stay here. The front desk staff although nice, did not go out of their way to ensure a pleasent stay or check in process. The resourt is so shadded that you don't see the sun or have any desires to use the pool. Although our room overlooked the pool, the majority of rooms have horrendous views of alleys, or junky walkways. I was extremely disappointed that I had to take a bus to get into the tourist areas of Port Douglas as the hotel is 5-10K away from anything; including resturants, 4 mile beach or shops. Although there is a bus service, the customer service of the drivers is appauling and it is expensive adding $10-20+ (family) to every meal and limiting your ability to come-and-go from the town and your hotel. Discussing issues with management was sub-par, they simply don't care.

There are a lot of private rentals and an Outrigger directly in the downtown area. Otherwise a car rental is a must if you plan on staying at the Treetops.
