Comfy rooms but some inconveniences A review of Sheraton Suites Columbus
I have stayed at this hotel a few times and find it comfortable and convenient. The positives are the large fridge, fully-equipped bathroom, additional phone & tv in bedroom, and the french doors separating the livingroom from the bedroom. Parking is free in the large lot. You can even walk across the street to several restaurants, coffee place and IMAX theatre. The staff is pleasant and laid back. I've never seen a valet person or bellhop during my visits. The negatives are the nearby train tracks & major interstate highway, stains on the furniture & carpet, non-working ice/vending machines (at many Sheratons I've stayed at), and burnt out light bulbs.
Upon entering my room during the last visit, it looked like a tornado ripped through it. Apparently someone had been "living" there and hadn't checked out yet or it simply hadn't been cleaned. I called down to the desk and was instructed to come back down to get another key. No apologies, just "That room should've been cleaned two days ago." In my opinion, they should've brought the new key up to me and helped carry my luggage to the new room.
Be careful walking by the pool to get to the fitness room. It's very close to the edge and very slippery! You may also have to wait to use some of the equipment.
I have never eaten in the diningroom because it always appears closed in the evenings. I've seen folks eating breakfast here in the mornings. The bar area seems to have more of a sports bar atmosphere to it with a loud tv. The gift shop is tiny, simply an extension of the front desk. Very limited selection of necessities and food/beverage items. I'd advise stocking up beforehand at the Kroger grocery store at Worthington Mall. Just a short drive across the highway, on the right.
Overall, a clean, comfortable hotel. The cozy, dark bedroom area makes you hit the snooze button over and over. It's like a cocoon.
If you require a hotel where you depend on proactive service from staff, go elsewhere.
