Comfortable, modern, very pleasant A review of Falkensteiner Hotel Maria Prag
We booked this hotel over the internet after reading the reviews on this site and elsewhere. I have to say we were not disappointed. The hotel is very modern and everything looks new and clean. Of course this may not be your cup of tea, if you're looking for authentic Prague, this hotel is not for you, but we loved it; particularly the breakfast room which is large, light and airy with a fantastic buffet with everything you might want . In fact we found that we could easily skip lunch with all that we had eaten at breakfast!
The room was also good, with plenty of light, 3m high ceilings which gave a fantastic impression of space and a good clean bathrom with shower and bath. There was a television in the room, but bewarned, most of the channels are in German or Czech, so don't expect to stay in and watch tv, but then again you're in Prague! Go out there and enjoy this fantastic city!!
Staff were polite and helpful, not overly effusive, but there if you need anything and unfailingly courteous.
The Old Town is about a 10mn walk from the hotel and we found that we could quite easily walk everywhere we wanted, we visited the whole of Prague by foot, including the castle, quite easily. The only time we took transport was to and from the airport. Getting around by foot also means you can take advantage of the beautiful buildings, make sure you always look up, there is always something to see in this beautiful place.
I would say the only little blip is that the rooms aren't very well soundproofed, but in general the fellow guests were very quiet, so we were never woken up before about 8.30. But a minor complaint, all in all a very good hotel for a reasonable price, we would definitely stay again if we return to Prague (as I would most certainly love to do, it really is a magical place).
