Comfortable, Good Prices A review of Northwoods Inn
I've been to Lake Placid at least 12 times and never stayed at the Northwoods. The last time was at the Hilton at $209 a night and I was next to a family of young, screaming hockey players. The father was in the hallway yelling on a cell phone. The employees didn't care if I left that hour. Typical hotel anywhere you go. The Northwoods is more accomodating to mature couples and families, although my room next door sounded like they were in our room with us. That noise reduction was accomplished with the closing of the bedroom doors. What a nice additive to help drown out the sounds of inconsiderate guests. Maybe parts of the hotel are a little older, but they recreated these areas to give you the unmistaken Adirondack feel. The restaurant is clean and has just updated their menu. The Cabin bar is cozy and inviting with its large fireplace; burning real wood. Not a gas fed reflection of warmth. As much time you'll spend in your room along with the price is just the reason you'll want to choose this hotel. Views are spectacular if you're there for the look of the New York State Adirondacks. We had fun here.
