Clean and dependable. Get to breakfast early! A review of Hampton Inn
My wife and I stayed at the Hampton Inn for three nights over Memorial Day. We were very pleased with the facility. The rooms were large and clean and quiet! Ask for room 231 - it's a corner unit on the top floor, and you'll only have one neighbor. We received an AARP rate of $89 per night, which was very reasonable considering the overall quality of the hotel and the room. Our only disappointment was the continental breakfast. Unless you arrive very early, there won't be any fruit left.
The hotel is approximately 2-1/2 miles from the Taos historic area, and it's an easy ride down the main street to reach the town square. We'd strongly recommend visiting Taos Pueblo and the bridge over the Rio Grande Gorge. Both sites were unique and memorable. If you don't mind spending a bit for dinner, we'd also recommend the Stakeout Grill and Bar, which is approximately eight miles south of town. It has outdoor seating with fabulous views and excellent food. For dessert, we had the best pecan pie ever! North of town, Orlando's serves very good Mexican food in a unique setting (beware - they don't take credit cards, but they will take your out-of-town check).
