Clean and Cozy A review of Christie Lodge
We spent an enjoyable week at the Christie Lodge and used it as a base for many hiking and exploring trips to places like Leadville (45 min.), Vail (10 min.), Breckenridge (50 min.), and Aspen (90 min.). The lodge has an indoor mall feel to it with its three story high atrium, and one pool, the hot tubs, and the ping pong tables are situated out in the center areas between the two buildings of rooms. But it was very comfortable. The room, while small, was spotless and contained new amenities. But for two adults and one child, it was fine. Other reviewers complain about the size and the lack of air conditioning--it's obvious that they were looking for a resort to stay in all day with loads of luxurious amenities. Clearly, the Christie is for families on the go who are out seeing the area, not sitting by the pool; thus to use this as a base to see the wonderful outdoor playground that is Colorado, I recommend it heartily. Plus, we were there in late June and we did not need the air conditioning, so clearly that complaint is more about glamour and prestige than actual comfort.
