Clean and convenient A review of Anchorage Grand Hotel
The queen suite was smaller than I envisioned from the floorplan on the website. However, it was very clean and well maintained. Full kitchen complete with dishes and utensils. No bell service. No shuttle service to the airport. The Continental breakfast delivered to your door consisted of a plastic bag containing a can of juice, a muffin, a bagel with butter and jelly and a fruit cup. Not elegant, but it made due. The hotel is just up the hill from the Alaska rail depot. If you are a light sleeper, I suggest you request a room opposite the depot. We could hear the train whistle well into the night. It was quite convenient to walk down the grassy hill to take the train to Whittier or Denali and not have to catch a cab or shuttle. It was also walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants in downtown. There was also a walking path nearby. All in all, it was a confortable place to stay.
