Clean and convenient for conventions/Can't recommend for leisure A review of Hyatt Regency Santa Clara

We recently stayed at the Westin for a weekend convention. If you are attending a convention in the area, especially at the Westin, I would DEFINITELY suggest staying here because it's really very nice. If it's for leisure, I probably wouldn't recommend it and you'll see why...

SERVICE: Quick, efficient and friendly.

ROOM: The room we stayed in was VERY quiet and comfortable. The beds were a little hard, but then again, most hotels seem to have this problem. BUT NOTE...my parents stayed in a room directly across from ours and it was NOISY!! You could hear the planes going and coming from the airport.

RESTUARANTS: VERY PRICEY!! I don't mind paying higher prices for meals, but even the Westin was a bit too much for my family. We had breakfast at the buffet and while the buffet was very nice, the prices were hefty. We left the premises for dinner because it was way too expensive. If I were traveling alone for a convention, I wouldn't mind the prices.

LOCATION: Very convenient to Great America and convention halls, but not much else.

BOTTOM LINE: Other than Great America, I see no reason why a person or family would stay here for leisure. If you are a family, the on-site food is awfully expensive. If all you are going to Great America and just looking for a place that is comfortable and clean, I would suggest staying elsewhere.

If you do stay here...ASK FOR A ROOM THAT DOESN'T FACE THE STREET OR PARKING LOT SO YOU DON'T GET THE NOISE FROM THE AIRPLANES!!

One last thing...there were about 100 teenagers staying at the hotel the weekend we were there. They were all over the place and being typical teenagers. When I asked the concierege what was going on, he said, very nice, "Is there a problem?" I told him they were running around and being loud. The concierege looked very concerned and said, "They shoudn't even be on your floor and if there ANY problems, please let us know immediately and we will take care of the problem and move you, too." I thought that was very nice and there never were any problems.
