Christmas by the sea A review of Inn at Sunrise Point
I read the other reviews before arriving at The Inn at Sunrise Point and I must admit, I was a bit skeptical. We were looking for a place to celebrate my 40th birthday and I chose Camden. The last time we visited this oh so quaint New England town was 5 years earlier and we thought it was time to go back. Camden did not disappoint us! We stayed in the Richard Russo cottage and found it to be very cozy, though not small, extremely clean, with a comfortable bed, a TV that could be easily viewed while in bed(even tho, yes, we did have to angle it a bit!) and a great view. An assortment of gourmet cheeses, crackers, fruit, chocolates and not to mention the wine and champage were left in our cottage as well. We found the main inn to be very charming and open and what a view! Various snacks, buckets of ice, cookies, etc. were always available thru out the day for us to enjoy. The breakfast was average/fine and we didn't find the breakfast room to be crowed. In fact, there were 2 small tables and one large farm table placed right in front of huge picture windows overlooking Penobscot Bay. The owners were very gracious, extemely intelligent, interesting people who introduced themselves, and offered to help with our dining/"tour-isty"arrangments. They called to confirm our reservations each evening, as we dined at The Hartstone Inn and Primo (!) and found both excellent. Both my husband and I look forward to our next visit, hoping to get a cottage a little closer yet to the water. If you are looking for a very quiet, beautiful, peaceful place to stay, this is it. Oh, we were also given a tour of the upstairs rooms in the main inn and all have wonderful views. We have stayed at many inns/bandb's in Maine and Vermont and have no problem recommending this property.
Christmas by the Sea was a wonderful way to jump start our holiday season!
