Choose other options A review of Hilton Tampa Airport Westshore
I am writing to express my displeasure over the front desk staff at this hotel. I have never been to a property where the staff was so unfriendly and stand offish. My person who checked me (Troy) was not courteous and was almost argumentative when I asked for my preferred room selection. I checked in at 3 pm and was told that their was no upgrades but he did have an 8th floor end room. I went up and the whole floor stunk like sewage and it continued into the room. I was verity disappointed in this situation and went to address the manager about my experience so far and odor on the 8th floor. I was helped by Steven Nunez and he too was very smug about the situation and I can see that the staff was a reflection of him and his personality. He began to give me quick answers as it appeared to me that I was bothering him in my complaints. He did move me to the executive floor but added the comment "I moved someone out of their room and placed you their, don't tell anyone" I did not need to hear any comments from him just address the situation and correct it. I don't need to know why and what. Also the morning desk girl was just as rude. We asked if there was any coffee at 5:30 am for the guest and she did not even look up and just said "we don't serve coffee." Excuse me for expecting such amenities but coffee is a typical request in the morning and another example of how this hotel does not cater to its guest.
Upon my arrival to the executive floor I was met with a very friendly and warm housekeeping staff and everyone said hello and was very friendly. This was a complete 180 from the front desk staff. My room was great, clean and NO SMELL. I asked for more coffee from one ladies and she dropped what she was doing and was very outgoing and happy. What a great staff on the 11th floor! Kudos! This is the type of reception that should be standard practice for the front desk staff who needs to attend school on customer service.
This sentiment was felt not only by me but other traveling companions and we will not be returning to the Hilton Tampa Airport. We like to stay where we feel appreciated and not degraded. There are several better, newer and friendlier hotels in that area that welcome guest and we will be pursuing those options on our next quarterly visit to Tampa.
I rate the front desk and management an F on many levels and give the housekeeping on the 11th floor an A. Maybe they should switch jobs and save the chance for repeat customers for this property.
