Check around town A review of The Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center
Just returned home from a three night stay at the Hyatt. What a big disappointment! We like staying at nice places and won't return to the Hyatt in Kansas City. When I made the reservation, I requested a king bed, with a rollaway for our child. We were told we would have to settle for two double beds. Our room was very dirty. One afternoon I returned from shopping to find the maid in our room. I asked to borrow her cloth and cleaner so I could wipe the dust off the headboards and light fixtures by the beds. When I was finished with that job, I cleaned the tops of the dresser, desk and night stand. Nicks on the furniture had been covered with stain/paint of some sort that didn't match the orginal finish. The cap on the shower had separated from the tile. I always had to ask for a third glass for our room, plus additional towels. Plus, there was no coffee maker in the room. I had read the hotel was newly renovated, however I believe our room on an upper floor was an original. Prior to leaving the hotel, I asked a man at the front desk if I could cash a travelers check and he told me I could go to the bank next door. Another desk clerk heard the conversation and ended up helping me with my request. This hotel is obviously used for convention groups. However, if you plan to spend some time in your room, look elsewhere.
