Charming hotel A review of Hotel Ter Brughe
I too was apprehensive having seen some reviews. Stayed here on June 3 in Rooms 23/24. Clean comfortable with bright, well-lit bathroom. Lovely settting overlooking canal. Bearing in mind that these rooms are only 130 Euros a night for such a centrally placed hotel in a city that is a major tourist centre they were more than adequate. The hotel was busy but we did not find it at all noisy. if you prefer faceless, bland rooms that belong to a hotel chain where one could not tell where in the world one was you will be disappointed with Ter Brughe. Okay it didn't have a power shower but personally I prefer a place with character. The staff were also very pleasant.
Would also recommend a restarurant called den Amand one minutes walk from the Markt. Run by a young couple serving traditional fayre but served with a modern twist. one of the best meals we have had anywhere in Europe with friendly service. Recommend booking as very small.
