Centrally Located - Great for the Kosher Consumer A review of Country Inn & Suites Lancaster
We stayed here at the end of June 2004 with 3 kids. We reserved a queen suite which gave us two rooms (with a door in between), one with a pull out couch and one with two queen beds (and 2 tvs). It also had a microwave and fridge which was extremely helpful. It was very spacious, and great for a family at a very reasonable price.
The hotel staff was courteous and friendly, and truly made you feel as if you were in an old time country inn, even though it is modern. The hotel has a very nice continental breakfast. If you keep Kosher, ask the staff for the breakfast notebook, and they will give you the labels for every breakfast item. There are many things to choose from. There was an indoor pool which was full of young children and families at 9 PM since Wonderland closes at 8:30. The water was cold (heated) but the kids loved it.
The hotel is convenient to everything. Dutch Wonderland amusement park, the Lancaster Museum and Minature Golf is across the street and walkable. There is a traffic light to cross but you are walking on a sidewalk next to a very busy road, a bit scary but nice not to have to drive. You can literally run back to the hotel in 2 minutes if you forgot something. Wonderland is a perfect place for kids under 11, and is very family friendly. All rides are appropriate and fun for as young as 3 and many were family rides which everyone could enjoy. OUr 4 year old really loved it! Wonderland has a Central PA Kosher stand which provides a wide assortment of Kosher food for lunch and dinner- yummy hotdogs, chicken, wraps and fries for the family. The hotel is a short drive to a lot of shopping outlets, and to the Amish country. The Strasburg Train is only 15 minutes away, and definitely worth the trip.
We would strongly recommend the Country Inn by Carlson as the place to stay when you visit Lancaster. It is an affordable, family friendly place.
