Caution when Staying at 'Quality' Suites in Green Tree/Pittsburgh A review of Quality Suites
We were put in a room that they knew would have a problem the next time that they got a heavy rain. We checked weather.com 5 days before we left and knew that the forecast all weekend was for rain, but what did they do, put us in the room that would leak. We had to move to another room that was not clean (more on that later) after returning and finding the ceiling on the foor and (ruined some of our things and food had to be thrown out) and that was the only compensation we received from them except "sorry." Not a way to run a hotel, despite a Satisfaction Guarantee in the office -they made no effort to comp the day that was lost because of moving and cleaning. Nor did we get asked once "did anything get ruined". "How was your stay?" None of the usual pleasantries you get when you pay money to stay somewhere, nor the respect a guest should receive.
We got into the new room and it was dirty, just dirty. The walls and doors especially hadn't been cleaned in ages or the person who used it before us was a coal miner. The kitchen was gross, food on the counters, walls, refridgerator, even the coffee from the previous guest was left for us. The bathroom counter had shaved hair from the previous guest that had shaved there, rusty knives in the kitchen, cigaretts butts were EVERYWHERE and they made no effort to clean up the grounds or fix things that were broken. The desk/clerk/manager had little to no people skills and was rude, demeaning, sarcastic, inconsiderate, and flat out told me I was lying about never being notified of a pet fee even though I told them 3 times the dog was coming and checked in without giving them a credit card, they only asked for the phone and renting movies to both we declined. We asked them to comp us a movie so our daughter would stay occupied while we moved, etc. and he said no, bring a credit card. I later found out the c.c. was credited for the movie and then charged the dog fee. Why not just call us and say "hey my guy messed up and here's the deal". Nope, he stuck it on the bill and hoped I wouldn't notice. The defense is that we booked through hotels(-) and they didn't notify us. I learned from hotel(-) that the hotel writes the description and the description says Pets are allowed. No mention of any fees and we were not told at check in. It is the way they handled their error, like we snuck the dog in. Why not just come to us and say, we made a mistake not charging you the pet fee? Instead they sneak around using cheap motel tactics.
They tried to lock us out of the room without our stuff before check out time, a common motel practice. Another attempt to get a dog fee instead of just asking. Fortunately one of us was still in the room. Then someone was always watching us as we were leaving. I mean staring literally until we left the room. We felt like stars.
I refused to sign the charge slip until it was redone just for the movies. I was told I was lying and that the fee would be back on our credit card as soon as he could prove it by asking his staff. Fantastic business skills by the supposed "guest service manager." That is a fraudulent charge.
I could see it used to be a very nice place and it was enjoyable until the staff got involved despite the outside conditions since it is still winter. The current management is incompetant to run a successful hotel and obviously cares nothing about returning customers despite all it has to offer.
I attempted to contact the owner/managine partner more than several times and he has chosen to ignore my calls and emails, despite my knowing from the staff that he is around, I always go to voicemail. I was told the fraudulent charges would be released by midnight and that was a lie. It still hasn't happened. I was left no choice but to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
