Bumpy start, but they accommodated me well A review of Courtyard Boston-South Boston

Our check-in experience was less than desirable at the Courtyard South Boston. We reached our room and found that the roll away bed we requested with our reservation was not there. I went to the desk to request one, but was informed that they could not put a roll away bed in my room as it was a fire hazard. They claimed roll away beds were only available in suites, but it did not say this anywhere on their website. After a bit of arguing and showing them my reservation confirmation, they offered me a second room at no charge. I also requested that our room be moved from the first floor and this request was honored quickly and without a problem.

Other than this I was very satisfied with my stay. Their free parking and internet were all very nice features, as this would have easily added $30/night to my bill at comparable hotels. The rooms were large, contained a fridge, iron, hair dryer and coffee machine. The beds and pillows were very conferrable.

Their proximity to the "T" (subway) was decent. In order to reach the T it was necessary to take a 5 minute walk through a rather quite area. Another reviewer mentioned that it was an sleazy area, but I was not too bothered by it, although I would not have taken that walk alone at night. On one occasion, we called the hotel when we arrived at the station and they sent a shuttle to pick us up within minutes.

We ate breakfast at the hotel twice and the food was good, although a bit pricey. The food is buffet style and included a make your own waffle station, scrambled eggs, home fries, yogurt, fruit, bagels (likely the frozen variety), toast, bacon, cereal, and danishes (I am sure there was a few more things as well). There was also juice and coffee All you can eat (and drink) breakfast cost $11 and was $12 if you wanted a custom made omelet. Hours were early if you sleep late though, it was only open until 10 during the week and I believe slightly later on the weekends.

The fitness center contained 2 bikes, 2 stair machines and 2 treadmills. It also included a multipurpose weight machine and free weights, although the free weights only went up to 45 lbs. It was open 24 hrs.

I did not use the pool but it was open until 10:00 PM.
