Bring your hipster sneakers A review of Ace Hotel Portland
We stayed at the Ace for two nights in July. We originally booked a shared bath room on the back side of the hotel, but we had some issues with the key and the lock not working. While we were struggling with it, a manager walked by, noticed our problem, and immediately offered to upgrade us to another room with a private bath, which was great! The new room was on the front side of the hotel, which as others have noted is really loud, as there are a couple of bars on the street and people driving like maniacs (bring earplugs if you want to sleep). The best part of our new room was the Oregonian Gentleman mural - loved it! We also loved the private bath, the shower in the corner of the room, and the delicious bath products, in fact my husband wants to buy them at home. Stumptown coffee off the lobby was really great (the best coffee on our entire pacific northwest roadtrip) and the location of the Ace was perfect - a short walk to great restaurants, powell's, the pearl district, music stores, the waterfront (perfect for runners), delicious marionberry pie and sandwiches at the half and half, a slightly longer walk to saint cupcake. We were totally enamored with Portland in general, and would definitely stay at the Ace on our next trip.
