Bring your earplugs! No Rest in San Antonio! A review of Marriott San Antonio Riverwalk
Previous critical comments were right on. This hotel was not what we expected. As was described before, the bathrooms are SMALL. In fact, the door barely clears the toilet, which sits right up against teh tub!
The hotel staff was GREAT - in fact, they made our visit somewhat bearable. We requested a Riverwalk facing room, but that didn't happen until the seond night. We were on the 9th floor and heard every vehicle driving by outside. What was unbearable were the rolling boom boxes with their 15" base speakers on the roads outside our patio. They finally stopped driving by about 3:30AM on both weekend nights. With an 8:30 conference both days, not a lot of shut eye. San Antonio ought to ban the loud vehicle sound systems after midnight - or even earlier.
Room service and house-keeping were very good. This was obviously a well staffed, well trained, customer friendly staff. But they couldn't make up for the physical drawbacks or muffle the noise from the street.
If it cost was few more pennies, stay at the RiverCenter - we've been there before and its well worth it. THIS hotel is "one and done" for us!
