Breathtaking with Historical Charm A review of The Jefferson Hotel
I was treated recently to an overnight sojourn to the Jefferson in the city of my birth, Richmond, Virginia. It was a couple of days before a much dreaded Christmas. From the moment we arrived, not only did I enjoy the company of my charming, generous love, but we were surrounded by genteel, discreet hospitality, the ambiance of such a wonderful historical decor, and the privacy one only dreams of in our complicated world. While he (per his custom when travelling) enjoyed the gym, I escaped to the pool, which I had exclusively to myself (amazingly) for an hour of solitude, wonderful swimming, and then reading the NYT at the table (because I could not bear to leave!) wrapped in a terry robe...I have never felt so loved or comforted...It was a trip I will never forget, and for the man who made it possible, I have renewed adoration for him for the sensitivity and charm of this wonderful gift to us.
