Big room, Little value A review of BEST WESTERN PLUS Sonora Oaks Hotel & Conference Center

I booked this hotel on the internet based on others ratings. I can only say that were most disappointed. The hotel was the most expensive and least appointed of all the hotels we booked for our California vacation.

We had a double Queen room on 2nd floor which was large, but had a tiny dressing table/desk, a square table and two chairs. Unlike other BWs we stayed in this summer, this one had neither fridge or microwave in the room. It is hot here even in September so a room fridge should be considered a basic essential. Although the hotel advertises high speed internet access it didn't apply to our room so had to use dial-up. The room was reasonably clean and what was in there worked.

The bathroom was in need of decoration with peeling and stained wallpaper, but the fittings were clean and in working order.

Pool was good and we had it to ourselves the first evening we arrived. Reception staff were attentive.

Breakfast is taken in the restaurant adjoining the property. The complimentary continental breakfast comprises juice, fruit, coffee plus 1 other item only. It is geared so that you purchase a full breakfast and get just $1 off using your voucher.

In summary this is no more than a basic Motel at a premium price. Not good value for money. No problems, but I would not stay here again.

The complimentary breakfast served in the restaurant allows for a choice of a free deluxe continental breakfast or a discount on anything else.

We are pleased that the guest enjoyed the warm friendly staff, the excellent pool and the large rooms. Thank you.
