Big paradise A review of Nusa Dua Beach Hotel & Spa
My partner and I spent one week at this great resort. We like small places, which are hardly found in that part of Bali, so we booked ourselves in the Executive section, called Palace Club, at an extra charge which included additionnally to the secluded lounge, free breakfast, free High Tea, free Cocktail Time (incl. alcohol), and free soft drinks round the clock. All the food, choice and quality were absolutely amazing, and really, one could have dinner upon the cocktail dishes (prawns, scallops, ...), which some of the guests did. It really is a hotel within the hotel (private check-in, concierge, ...), which kept us away from the big crowd most of the time.
The rooms are large, pristinely kept, utterly clean, furnished in a kind of balinese style, very qualitative, and come with a furnished private terrace or balcony, with a view upon lush gardens or pool or the sea.
The spa is rated the best outside Europe by CondéNast. The atmosphere is great, rooms and suites are nice, treatments are really top notch, and come at the third of the European price. This explains thats is very busy, all the time, and your treatment planning should be made right on arrival, to avoid disappointment. We were there ... often. Though the reception could be improved : as it is quite large and busy, you feel the staff could be more caring. I have seen better in the Maldives, for example.
Huge swimming-pool area, with a lot of loungers, and it is not too difficult to get a pair of available ones when you turn-up at the peak hour.
As the previous review explain, the resort is isolated in Nusa Dua. I did not mind, as I had been touring Java and bali extensively, and got a bit bored by the local crowd -so friendly, but still, too friendly.
If you want to have dinner outside (highly recommandable), Jimbaran Bay beach and fishermen restaurants are a cheap and short drive away. We got a 7 pound lobster for just $30, fully inclusive. Don't miss it there.
