Big Island Great Trip A review of Paniolo Greens Resort
Just got back from trip to Paniolo Greens in Waikoloa. Definitely better beaches in the Kohala area than in Kona. Hapuna Beach, the best I have been to in all of Hawaii, is just 10 minutes away. The little shopping center and grocery store is convenient, however try Costco in Kona for some bulk stuff for the week, and water to take with you on day trips etc.Definitely recommend going to Volcano Nat. Park, however go thru Waimea and Hilo its shorter and an easier drive than south through Kona. But a stop at the Punaluu Bakeshop is a must for great breads, another bet is Low's International foods in downtown Hilo, will ship sweetbread anywhere. Its not to be missed.Paniolo Greens was very quiet, the pool was a little chilly but got used to it, and their beach rentals were a good deal, chairs, boogie boards etc.Try to get a two story unit, it gives a large group a greater chance to spread out, going upstairs is nice.
