Big Big sky A review of San Juan Inn
Monument Valley is like no other place on earth. If you havn't seen it you must. It's like going to church you feel like a better person just by being there. If it wern't for the San Juan Inn in Mexican Hat you would just be passing through. Thanks to the folks there for providing a well maintained and comfy place to stay the night in such a truly awe inspiring location. Just before sunset we walked down to the banks of the San Juan and waited for the stars to appear. There are no lights for hundreds of miles around to compete with nature's beauty. Next time I am going to bring a sky map so I know what I am looking at, not that it matters. We ate in the restaurant. We love fry bread and it never tasted so good. The San Juan isn't exactly on reservation land so you can have an adult beverage with your meal. That is very unusual in Navajo country. The Navajo and Hopi are reserved people but they were gracious and the service was perfect. In the morning we pushed our bike out to the road, so not to disturb those who were still asleep. We were in Monument Valley at sunrise. WOW! We will be going back this summer and hopefully many more times.
