Beware "tourist class" hotel A review of Manhattan Broadway Hotel
My family recently spent the Thanksgiving holiday at this hotel in Midtown and boy did we have some surprises! First of all, it is in a less than desirable part of midtown, nestled between a watch repair kiosk and a Chinese restaurant. The entrance is easy to miss. Forget the room picture and general description you will find on the web for this establishment. I don't know where they came up with the nice promo room picture, but I saw NO room at this hotel which looks like this. The rooms are TINY, dark and dreary. We went two days without washcloths because the maid service was so lousy. The heat is controlled by the front desk - for ALL rooms. So, we made several calls asking them to "turn it up please" since they always turned it down during the day which meant that by evening things were pretty chilly. There was NO sunlight through any windows since the "hotel" is situated inbetween two other buildings. It always seemed like night time from the room. There is NO parking, so loading and unloading bags is a challenge in traffic. The hotel safe was a "box" kept under the front desk. Valuables felt safer being carried with us. The carpet was pulling away from the baseboards in the rooms and was frayed. The baseboards were dirty, the door facings were loose and pulled away from the wall when you attempted to open the bathroom door. The windows are drafty. In short, beware of this hotel. Unless you just need a bed and need cheap accomodations. One saving grace though...no bugs were seen. They were probably all at the nasty chinese restaurant next door.
