Better than expected- I liked it. A review of Holiday Inn Corpus Christi - Emerald Beach

I was a little apprehensive as I usually like to stay at a 4 star or better. However, I already stayed at the Omni Marina in Corpus and they had too many negatives for me: small rooms, stained carpets and slow room cleaning. Also the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach is the only one directly on the beach on Shoreline Drive and I was traveling with children.

The front desk staff was helpful and polite. Although there was a convention going on they were still accommodating. The parking, although free is barely adequate. If you come in late you will have to park around a dark corner from the rooms.

I stayed in one of the "cabana rooms" facing the bay. It had a nice sized balcony (but only one chair, although on the last day I noticed that all the other balconies had 2 chairs). Two double beds, armoire with television, desk with chair and sitting chair. Beautiful view.

You'll see a beautiful sunrise if you awake early enough and the weather permits. Average sized room, very clean, furniture and bathroom counters looked new. Room and halls appeared freshly painted.

Kids loved the pool (4.5 ft highest ) and Play port (kind of like the McDonalds playrooms). They had karoake outside the pool area Sat night for adults or children who wanted to participate. Encountered one rude person at towel stand but all other employees tried to be helpful.

Don't rent one of the pool view rooms if you like peace and quiet and like to see outside. With the kids playing and yelling, I felt sorry for those who had only that for their view. Some of those rooms walked right out to the pool and unless they closed their curtains they were part of the scenery.

Kids do eat free with adult entree. Food just okay. Nothing to rush back for but adequate for day or 2. However KoKomo breakfast buffet had problem with cleanliness of plates (10 dirty to one clean). The dishwasher was not up to the job, but the manager was very apologetic and took the whole group of plates back to be rewashed.

The beach was nice. You can walk way out and still be waist deep. You can rent chairs and other beach necessities. Also there's a large trampoline with a slide that you can rent time on for the children ($5 day). We were going to but did not like the attitude of the rental employee: very abrupt and did not want to answer any questions, just collect money. So we decided he really didn't want our money after all.

All in all it was a very pleasant stay. I would return.
