Best secret on Central Coast A review of Inn at Avila Beach
This is the nicest little hotel on the Central Coast, as long as you stay in the ocean front rooms. The beach below the hotel is one of the few wind-protected beaches on the Central Coast -- that makes it a great place to sit and read a book and look out over the beautiful bay at Avila. This is a (step-by-step) renovated hotel. They have a nice little art shop, and the rooms are very well done with Sante Fe style decor. However, the back rooms in the hotel are rather miserable, and have no view, and you might as well be in a Motel 6. But they have a rooftop deck (windy, though). In a ddition, Pirate's Cove is just over the hill, with nice views, a nice swimming beach, and (if you like that sort of thing) a nudist end of the cove.Lastly, the proximity to Sycamore Springs hot tubs can not be overemphasized. These are the nicest mineral springs in the state (with the possible exception of Esalen). And you can rent a hot tub by the hour. So, my favourite holiday is ocean front room at this hotel, beach at Avila Beach (south end of the beach), dinner in San Luis Obispo, hot tubs at Sycamore Springs. You can't beat that for a getaway, beleive me.
