Best Luxury 5 star bargain in Prague (Europe?) A review of Boscolo Prague, Autograph Collection
Reently opened in what was previously the Prague main post office, this is a stunning hotel. Beautiful exterior and one of the most stylish interiors I have seen in the hundreds of hotels I have seen around the world. World class designers have carefully created every aspect from the impressive reception to the bar, restaurants, swimming pool and the rooms.
Check out their specials, we took advantage of a so-called Celebration Package which gave us a rate of 190 Euro per night including all taxes, breakfast, welcome drink and dinner one of the evenings. We were even able to extend for another night at the same rate. They upgraded us to a fantastic junior suite that exceeds anything I have seen in Four Seasons and Ritz Carltons anywhere. Beautiful hardwood floors, outstanding marble bath with double-ended bath tub, rich fabrics and beautiful furniture.
Opportunities for further improvement are more consistent service (some staff is great, others have no clue), fresh orange juice at breakfast and a better gym. Take advantage of the cheap airport transfers (less than 30 Euros) in nice vehicles.
No views (floors 4 & 5 have only have partial windows) due to the location and being located near the main train station are the other possible drawbacks. In terms of exploring Prague the location is however better than it looks on the map. Within two minutes you are in the pedestrian areas with easy strolls through the city center to the castle and back along the river to the hotel.
Make sure the taxis start the meter and if you plan to eat at the Allegro restaurant in the Four Seasons hotel know that views of the castle are only from the terrace (where they don't always serve dinner) and limited from very few tables in the restaurant itself. Food and service are great but pricey ($80 per person with some alcohol).
