Believe it, this place rocks! A review of Hotel Marlowe - A Kimpton Hotel
What an amazing property! It's got a wonderful location, convenient to both Cambridge and downtown Boston, and is currently reasonably priced.
It's attached to a nice, newer shopping mall and is within walking distance of most attractions.
The front desk were the best, checking me in promptly and answering my questions about the free high speed internet (which works very well). I then had 2 glasses of Sangiovese at the free wine reception in the library/living room area. Everyone was so friendly to me!
The facilities are top notch, of course everything is new but boy did they pick nice things to decorate with. The public areas are lovely, but the rooms are where they really shine. Leopard print carpet and bathrobes (it really works), chrome and muted, classy lighting abound.
There were 3 sitting chairs, including an oversized red velvet armchair that was SO comfortable. The bed was Goldilocks perfect (not too hard, not too soft) and had Frette linens, a down comforter and a faux fur throw that was just great to curl up in.
The TV had stereo speakers built in for great sound and the hotel provided a Cambridge Sound mini-CD/AM/FM system that would blow away most home units. The view was of the river and a small park nearby.
Room service was exceptional, and fairly reasonable.
I can't say enough good things about this place. There is no place else to visit in Boston, trust me. I will not even consider staying anywhere else. I just hope they keep the rates reasonable, because this place is going to take off!
