Beautiful Resort, Rooms not quite so lovely A review of The Colony Hotel
When you first pull up to the Colony, you will be impressed by the looming Victorian grandness of the hotel and its beautifully landscaped grounds. The pool is fantastic and the view is breathtaking. The hotel has an old world feel, filled with antique furniture and decor. You will be impressed by your complimentary breakfast, which includes a full buffet in the dining room which has beautiful water views. However, if you decide to visit the Colony, be sure to stay in the main hotel. I would not recommend the other guest houses that are subpar compared to the rest of the hotel. Our room in the East House had a 'Grandma's attic' feel, that felt more dingy that quaint and smelled musty. Housekeeping woke us up at 7am and contined to clammer about outside of our door for two hours. They had filled the entire "lobby" area with towels and cleaning supplies before vacating. Overall, I was disappointed by our overpriced room at the Colony but impressed by the overall hotel and grounds.
