Beautiful location - service and food way off par not worth the money we spent A review of Aitutaki Lagoon Resort & Spa
Unfortunatly we had a bad start even before we got to Aitutaki. (check and recheck your inter island flights) Our inter island flight had been changed and we were not notified, travel docs said we departed at 10am, upon arrival we were told it was 8am, hence we missed our flight had to wait till 6pm and they put us on the locals plane, it was filthy, torn seats and cabin lining, could see daylight around the cargo door (scary), we were 1 of 6 tourists that has had flights changed. we had booked the honeymoon package which included sarongs, sparkling wine and a fruit basket on arrival, waited 2 days then phoned reception, received wine and sarongs, still waiting for the fruit basket. we stayed in the overwater bungalow (over $1000.00 Au per night) aircon broked down every night, mic nearly fell over the railing, it had rotted away from the deck. their is not a spa in the bungalow only an outdoor shower, very ordinary conmsidering the amount we paid. met up with 4 other couples, 2 left early, 1 couple went to the Pacific resort and the other back to Raratonga. Meals were ordinary and cost the amount you would expect in a five star resort, the couples that we met choose to eat at other resorts. Spoke to the manager, no action was taken, got the feeling that "ive got your money and you are stuck here, so why should i do anything about it". the manager needs to realise that westerners expect a certain amount of service and good quality meals when paying such a high $ for a resort that is only worth 2 stars, Meals were constantly sent back. if Mic and i ever go back we will be staying at the Pacific Resort better value for money and the range and price of meals is fantastic.
