Beautiful Hotel, Spacious Rooms A review of Omni William Penn Hotel
We recently stayed here for three nights in June and were very pleased with the hotel which is an historic landmark conveniently located in the downtown core. The room was very spacious with two double beds, a desk, lounge chair, and large double closet. Everything was very clean and tastefully appointed (standard dark wood hotel furniture, floral fabrics). The bathroom was fair-sized and toiletries were very nice (including hair conditioner which is becoming a rarity in hotels!). The public garage for self-parking was conveniently located across the street and was relatively inexpensive -- $12 for weekends and $3 for weekdays. Staff were quite friendly and helpful.
I was disappointed upon checking-in to find that one of the robes they had nicely laid out on the bed had a make-up smudge on it. The next day, despite my placing the robe in the tub with the used towels to have it replaced, I found it had been hung back on the bathroom door! I indicated my dismay on the comment card when leaving, and was pleasantly surprised to receive, a week later, a letter of apology from the hotel manager!
The only other complaints I have are minor: there are no mini bars in the rooms, and the lobby was under renovation.
Tip: Make sure you sign-up as a member of the Omni Hotels frequent guest program before you leave home. This entitles you to free coffee/tea, freshly squeezed juice, and newspaper of your choice -- all delivered to your room each morning! All you need to do is fill out a form and hang it on your door handle each night. This was a great unexpected perk that we looked forward to every day!
Overall, a good stay at a great price. We paid US$99 per night, a rate found off the Omni Hotels website and consistent with the rates on other discount travel sites.
