Beautiful Hotel, Ineffective Service Delivery A review of Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay
My husband and I just returned from the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay. Although this is a nice property, the hotel lacks the proper attention to service. Prior to going to the hotel, we called and asked about the shuttle from the airport. We were given instructions. Upon our arrival, we waited for a shuttle that did not appear. We called the hotel, and they said that they would send one right away. We waited another 25 minutes. It still did not show. We finally gave up and took a taxi to the hotel that was only minutes from Tampa International. When I described the situation to the front desk manager, he apologized, but other than that was unconcerned. Later that evening, my husband and I had dinner at Oyster Catchers, which is off the hotel property. We had the waiter to call for the shuttle. The restaurant had to call 3 times.
Even the restaurant felt embarrassed by the lack of service, especially since we had just spent over $100 for a meal without drinks.
I think that this property caters to large events and is therefore missing the boat on the loyal Hyatt customer who has elected to come there to stay.
We checked out after 2 nights. It was not a warm and hospitable atmosphere to which the Hyatt brand normally stands for. We will not go back to this property.
